En 1944, une compagnie montréaliaise recherche l'endroit pour implanter une usine de production de manche à balais. Leurs représentants, les frères Frank et Jos Enrco décident de l'implanter à St-Omer, au carrefour du chemin de fer, du ruisseau Alain et de la route St-Louis. Cet emplacement est idéal, puisqu'il est approvisionné par le bois franc qui descend du chemin de la colonie. Il est également à proximité du chemin de fer et d'une voie de service déjà utilisée par le moulin de sciage de M. Rodolphe Landry. Finalement, le ruisseau Alain fournit l'eau nécessaire aux  bouilloires, produisant la vapeur essentielle au dynamo qui fournit l'énergie à toute la machinerie. Le terrain est acheté en 1946 et le nouveau contremaître est J.Maurice Vallée. Un hangar et une maison pour la famille sont également construits à proximité.
